John has been involved with football as a quarterback and coach for over 25 years.
John began his football career at Montgomery-Rockville Junior College (Md.) where he led the 1990 team to a 10-0 record and a berth to the NJCAA Championship Game. He was named the 1990 NJCAA Player of the Year and First Team All-American as he led the nation in every passing category. He was inducted into the NJCAA Hall of Fame in 1998.
Following junior college, John went on to become a two-year star at University of Maryland where he set single-season records in passing yards (3,392), completions (286), attempts (482), total yards (3,472) and single-game touchdown passes with five. In 1992 John led the nation in total offense with 305 yards per game and being named MVP of the Blue-Gray Senior Bowl.
After college, John played in the Canadian Football League before joining the Albany Firebirds in the Arena Football League, where he played quarterback for the next 14 years. During his career John amassed 35,355 passing yards, 581 touchdowns, and 60% completion rate. In 2003 he led the Tampa Bay Storm to the ArenaBowl Championship. John retired in 2007.
John began his coaching career in 1993 as a student assistant at his alma mater, University of Maryland, earning his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. John has served as a Quarterback Coach/Wide Receiver Coach/Offensive Coordinator at the high school, college and professional level for the last 20 years.
In 2002 John joined Elite Football Services (now American National Combines) as Assistant Director moving up to Assistant National Director in 2005. In 2009 when Elite was purchased by the National Football League, John was named NFL Regional and Super Regional Combines National Director – East Region. In this position, he assisted in the operation of all aspects of combine planning and field operations.
John is now Senior National Director for the American National Combines. For ANC John directs and evaluates quarterbacks, receivers and defensive backs, while continuing to assist overall combine management.
John currently owns and operates the Kaleo Quarterback Academy in Tampa, Florida where he trains over 70 Quarterbacks from all levels. In the fall, John commentates for Fox Sports Florida Prep Zone, broadcasting the high school game of the week throughout the state of Florida.
